DescriptionIn Iona Abbey museum, you’ll find a carved oval stone with this simple image of a ringed cross on it. This cross is known locally as St. Columba’s Pillow, from an old story that St. Columba used a stone as a pillow and awoke one morning to find the image of a cross had appeared on it while he lay sleeping. On the back of our pillow is St. Columba's prophecy about Iona, in Gaelic, which reads, "Iona my heart, Iona my love, in place of monks' voices will be lowing of cattle and ere the world come to an end, Iona shall be as it was."
