Product Description
Stunning pillow-shape heart pendant featuring enamel detailing in the original colour palette as used by the Ritchies. The design is inspired by the iconic Acanthus leaf engravings found on historic Iona stone carvings, dating back to medieval times. This pattern was also widely used as a decorative element by Alexander & Euphemia Ritchie. The Ritchies' own beloved heart pattern is featured here in person, thanks to digital 3D scanning technology, which has replicated the heart from the master pattern of a stunning handcarved spoon made by the Ritchies in c.1920. The heart pattern they created by hand has then been 'pressed' into the pendant, so the authentic memory and touch of the original craft is preserved while also reimagined into a modern, wearable treasure for today. The other side of the pendant features the original ‘IONA’ placename as handcarved by the Ritchies onto their jewels, to provide a beautiful further memory of their inspiring Iona Celtic Art legacy, and you can wear either side facing forward. Beautiful ocean-blue enamel - the same colour used by the Ritchies for their own jewellery range, as well as our I Mo Chridhe signature blue - highlights the pendant’s heart-shaped details.
This pendant is oxidised sterling silver accented with blue enamel. It measures 6mm by 15mm at the widest point, and is 6mm deep and comes on an oxidised 1.5mm diamond-cut Spiga wheat chain to match the pendant finish, in your choice of 16” or 18” length chain. Each piece is Hallmarked Sterling Silver by the Edinburgh Assay Office in Scotland.
