POS Neolithic
Created exclusively for Aosdàna by Scottish artist, Beth Legg, this collection is based on a piece of Neolithic pottery found on the Island of Staffa. To build up this repeated pattern and texture in silver, the pieces include individually soldered wires which are rolled and hammered on textured anvils to give a more weathered surface. When the pieces are then cast they benefit from a softening which occurs during the process. Oxidisation of these silver pieces works particularly well as it highlights the recesses in the texture. This group is an accessible range which bridges the gap between the traditional Celtic pieces and the more contemporary work of Aosdàna.
